Sanding Grit Progression

Start coarse and work finer:

• Coarse grit (60–80): Removes material fast, levels surfaces.
• Medium grit (100–150): Smooths scratches from coarse paper.
• Fine grit (180–220): Prepares surface for finish, removes minor imperfections.
• Extra fine (320+): Buffs between coats for glass‐smooth results.

Always sand with the grain to avoid cross‐grain scratches.
